Lioness Rampant - Tamora Pierce I thought this series was fantastic and I am happy to be able to recommend it to friends with daughters and to be able to give them a full account of the sex. It is such a great story about becoming a woman, from beginning puberty, through the exploration of love and relationships, to finding out what you want in a mate and in life. The main character is a strong, independent, adventurous girl/woman who subverts ideas of male dominance while enjoying her femininity.
